Why am I seeing the error ‘Result: Invalid response from server’ when trying to license/re-license my device?

I am setting up a new device or renewing a license on a device and I see the message ‘Result: Invalid response from server’. I have never had a problem in the past, what changed?

At the beginning of March 2025 WSG phased out the old URL used for licensing MobileMap. The URL had been changed 2 years earlier in the MobileMap settings defaults, but many users are importing the older URL from their feature service or legacy settings files. Please check the setting Settings > Licensing > License Service. This setting should have the value https://mobilemap.wsgapps.com/register. Older settings files may have an obsolete URL. If your settings is an older URL, please also update (or have your administrator update) all settings files and feature service descriptions.
