  • Creator user type with Publisher role – at minimum, one of these is required to publish the feature service to an AGOL organizational account.  The Creator user type includes access to ArcGIS Pro Basic, the tool used for data modeling and publishing.

  • Contributor user type with Data Editor role – one Contributor account would be needed for each user requiring access to create or edit data in MobileMap or InventoryManager.  If this user needs access to other mobile applications, like Field Maps or Survey 123, you would instead choose a Mobile Worker user type with the Data Editor role rather than Contributor.

For testing and collaboration with other organizations, users may need to be able to join AGOL groups created by other organizations' AGOL administrators. To join external groups, users must have the proper permissions. By default, only the ‘User’ or higher roles have this permission. If this permission needs to be enabled for the Contributor user type, this can be accomplished by creating a custom role, and then toggling on the “Join external groups” option (see 2 images below).
