Inventory Management System: Backup from Delta Geodatabase

Inventory Management System: Backup from Delta Geodatabase

Overview

Starting at MobileMap 5.0, automated data backups utilize ESRI’s Delta Geodatabase format. The steps below will guide you through recovering data from a Delta Geodatabase in the event that your device is damaged or otherwise unable to upload data.

Creating Delta Geodatabase

Database backups are created automatically in MobileMap. For more information: MobileMap: Data Backup, Recovery and Export | Automated Backup.1

Copying Delta Geodatabase from Device

To find the latest database backup, select the “Offline Geodatabase Info” button from the Actions menu in MobileMap:

From the “Offline Geodatabase Info” screen, you should see a “Last exported:” and “Last exported file location:”. The “Last exported file location:” will tell you where to navigate to access your backup file:

Copy this file to your PC. This file will be used in the next step to perform the database backup.

Syncing Delta Geodatabase in InventoryManager

Once the Delta Geodatabase has been transferred from the device to the user’s PC, InventoryManager’s “MM Backup” tool may be used to perform the upload from the Delta Geodatabase.

Log on to InventoryManager using the same ArcGIS user who was used in MobileMap when generating the offline Geodatabase. Once the user is logged in, they should select the “MM Backup” button:

Then, select the “Choose File” button:

Navigate to the Delta Geodatabase file that was transferred over to your local machine from your device. Once you have selected your file, click “Run Backup”:

Once the backup has been initiated, status updates will then read out. Once the status update reads “Completed”, the database should have been successfully backed up:

Once the process is completed, use the map interface in InventoryManager to verify that the changes were successfully uploaded from the Delta Geodatabase.
