InventoryManager: Search

Use the search tool to find features meeting specific criteria. Searches can be made using attribute queries, spatial selections, or a combination of both.

Choose The Layer

The first drop-down menu will specify the layer to be searched. Select a layer to access the remaining search form. *Note that once a search layer is set, spatial selections will also be limited to only that layer. Set back to "Select Layer to Search" to remove the layer restriction, and enable spatial searches of all layers.

Create A Query

Search for features that match an attribute query. Drop-down menus make it easy for users to choose from any available attribute in the data model. Multiple operators (=, contains, <, and >) are available to build queries. Type in a value to the blank box and click the magnifying glass below to search. If the search field is constrained by a domain, values will be available in a drop-down menu, and typing in values will not be an option.

Modify A Query

To refine a search, users can add multiple variables to the query by using the plus button below the first selection criteria. Variables can be removed by clicking the minus button to the right of the selection criteria. Note that multiple variable selections are 'and' statements. This operator cannot be changed by the user.

Draw A Spatial Search Extent

Users can draw a search extent to combine a spatial selection with an attribute query. Similar to feature creation mode, additional buttons will appear in the top left corner of the map when a search layer is chosen. Select the square button (for simple spatial selections) or the polygon button (for complex spatial selections) to make a selection. Selection tips will appear next to the cursor to guide users. Once the shape is drawn, click the polygon shape to execute the search.

*Note that if criteria for the attribute query are not filled in when the search is executed, the user will be alerted.

Clear The Spatial Search Extent

To clear a search extent, navigate to the top left corner of the map. Click the garbage can icon, then click the blue search extent polygon, then click Save to delete or remove the search extent. Cancel will end the delete operation, and the search extent will persist.
