InventoryManager: Overview
Purpose
This User Guide documents the basic functions and capabilities of InventoryManager. It is intended to provide support for common the most common InventoryManager use cases. Each implementation of InventoryManager has a different look and feel, a unique data model, and different functionality. In this guide we have attempted to capture the common use cases and workflows. It is likely that some functionality used by your organization is not yet covered in this guide. Similarly, some of the descriptions or screenshots may not match with the way tools appear on your InventoryManager site. Please contact our support team at support@woodlandsg.atlassian.net to suggest improvements to this user guide.Â
Overview of the System

InventoryManager is a cloud-hosted, Software as a Service (SaaS), forest information and management system. It is built from the ground up on Esri’s ArcGIS platform, and extends this platform by providing an easy-to-use web application with a wide range workflows for managing inventory data. It is typically used in conjunction with WSG's MobileMap technology. When used together, ArcGIS provides the data model and backend data services, MobileMap provides the field data access and data collection functionality and InventoryManager provides the web-based data management functionality. Specifically, InventoryManager provides functionality including:
Spatial and attribute data search
Creation of Stand polygons
Plot layout
Spatial and attribute editing of Stands and Plots
Attribute editing of Trees and Logs
Data QA/QC
Integration with other forest management systems (e.g., Trimble LRM, MBG Tools, TCruise, Silvah)
Volume calculation and compilation
Reporting
InventoryManager integrates seamlessly with an organization's enterprise GIS by leveraging ArcGIS as the authentication source and by consuming ArcGIS feature services. It takes advantage of the investment that your organization has made in Esri's software an in staff with expertise in GIS. InventoryManager is intended to be used alongside other Esri software like ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Field Mapsand Survey123. It can be implemented using ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online. Throughout this guide, we assume that users have some familiarity with GIS and Esri software, and are familiar with the use of modern web browsers. We recommend the use of the Chrome browser, but Firefox, IE and Edge are also supported.Â
Inventory Manager leverages ESRI's ArcGIS Online platform to serve up your data. As such, an ArcGIS Online username and password are required. Click the globe icon to login with your ArcGIS online credentials. For some, two globe icons might appear. Hover over each icon to choose to login for ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.
